Forrest Burdette is proud to sponsor Boy Scout Troop 236. The troop meets Mondays at 6:30 PM in the Virginia House. Scout Master is Jason Hill.
To date, 45 young men from the troop have attained the rank of Eagle.
With more than 130 Merit Badges—from Archery and Art to Welding and Wilderness Survival—Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Boy Scouts explore their interests and improve their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. By first imagining, planning then doing their own service projects, Boy Scouts learn the value of hard work, and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off. Add in outdoor adventures, hiking and camping, and Scouting gives boys all the experience they need to become men.
Boy Scouting is available to boys who earned the Arrow of Light as a Cub Scout and are at least 10 years old or have completed the 5th grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old. The scouting objectives are developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. The troop has an active year-round camping schedule.
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight.
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly,
courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty,
brave, clean, and reverent.
