Join us as we study Gods word one book at a time using the powerful and dramatic Word of Promise audio Bible as our guide.  This diverse class is ideal for all ages and caters to those looking for a simplified understanding of  scripture.

The Stewards of Fellowship is a long-standing Sunday School class here at Forrest Burette. Our focus is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in a “family” atmosphere as we study The Word, share our joys and concerns and reach out in ministry.

As a “family” on the journey, we share moments of laughter, tears, encouragement and devotion.

The Stewards of Fellowship encompasses a variety of ages and is sincerely open to all who would come. We meet in Room 211… on the second floor of the new building. As an old hotel advertisement once said … “We’ll leave the light on for ya”.

The Loyal Pioneers traces its origin at Forrest Burdette back to 1952, when it was called the Wesley Pioneers, and later merged with the Loyal Service class and became the Loyal Pioneers. Today, the class welcomes anyone seeking a Sunday School class made up of mature Bible students of all ages.

The Loyal Pioneers engages in an ongoing critical study of the Scriptures, looking at the historical context, translation, transmission, and contemporary interpretation of the Word of God. The Pioneers use a quarterly Adult Bible Studies curriculum which presents stimulating lessons that explore the biblical message and how to apply it to daily life. The class moves from a focus on the Word to reflection on personal, family, church, and community concerns.

Over the years members of the class have found lifelong friends and they are always a source for prayer, visitation, and concern for each other in times of need.

Fellowship opportunities of the class include an annual summer picnic and the class is always well represented in most church activities.

A small informal group studying the various books of the Bible in great detail both from a historical perspective.  We ask the questions what it meant to the original readers in the context of the time it was written as well as how it is relevant in today’s world.

The Hand Bell Choir is directed by David Shanklin and meets weekly from September through May. This group performs several times throughout the year during Sunday Morning Worship.

Alcoholics Anonymous group is hosted by Forrest Burdette MUMC and is open to any person needing help with alcohol addiction. Meets weekly.

A quilting group which meets on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. One of the many projects they assist with is piecing and tacking quilts for children at Christmas time.

A group for anyone who is interested in crocheting and knitting. This group knits caps for babies, prayer shawls for cancer patients and others dealing with illnesses, as well as squares for blankets for the homeless.

A women’s group that meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month and is very involved in many other projects and activities around the church. Chaired by Ruth Blankenship.

A community choir that is hosted by Forrest Burdette MUMC and open to anyone who wants to sing. The group usually meets on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. The schedule is subject to change. Directed by Branita Holbrook-Bratka.

A quilting and fellowship circle for women which meets the 1st Saturday of the month. This group constructs blankets for babies born in the NICO unit at Charleston Area Medical Center.
