Welcome to Children’s Outreach Ministries! We hope you find our website helpful and informative when deciding upon a quality childcare program. COM is a licensed childcare center through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. We are also inspected and registered with the State Fire Marshall, Putnam County Health Department, and Department of Education, Office of Child Nutrition.

The Children’s Outreach Ministries encompass the Early Education and School Age Programs. These programs operate as non-profit programs through Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church under the direct governance of the Children’s Outreach Ministries Board of Directors.
The Children’s Outreach Ministries programs are licensed by the State of West Virginia, meeting the health and safety standards as required by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services and the State Licensing Board. Our licensing capacity is for 155 children. We have liability insurance through a local agency. The Children Outreach Ministries does not provide medical coverage.
This facility is operated on a non-discriminatory basis, and the practice of this policy is demonstrated through equal treatment in regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, and age or marital status of parents. If a child with extenuating circumstances or needing special care wishes to enter the program, his/her case will be decided at the discretion of the Program Director. Depending on the particular situation, it may be referred to the Children’s Outreach Ministries Board of Directors.

Children and their families are very important to us! We want the whole family to find their place here at Forrest Burdette Memorial UMC. There are several opportunities for your children to plug in on Sundays and Wednesdays. Please click on the headings below for more information on our Nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Wednesday evening programming. TIME: 9:45AM – 10:45AM
Come join us for our weekly Bible lesson! Children age 2 and older have age appropriate classes they can attend and grow in Faith and make friends all while having tons of fun. We use Cokebury’s “Deep Blue” to help kids dive deeper into their relationship with God!
TIME: 8:30AM & 11AM
During Sunday Worship children age 2 to 3rd grade are invited to attend our Children’s Church. During this time: children sing and praise God; have a Bible lesson; and do activities or crafts which help them understand and remember the lesson they learned. Children are able to have a worship service that meets their needs and helps them interact with God on their level. We use Grow Curriculum.
TIME: 6:30PM – 7:30PM
On Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30, children age 2 to 5th grade meet for an awesome time of worship and lots of fun! Using Groups “Dig In” children start off in the Sanctuary for a large group lesson; then split into 3 age groups: Preschool, Younger Elementary, and Older Elementary. Each group will have their own lesson, AND practice for our Children’s Choir.Our Children’s Choir sings during Sunday Worship on special occasions. Our big production is our annual Christmas Play! Come join us Wednesdays for tons of fun!
We have a Nursery for babies and toddlers from birth to 2 years old. Nursery is provided during Sunday Worship and Sunday School, and Wednesdays during our “Wednesday Night Alive” adult classes. Sunday Nursery: Melissa Oxley
We want you to get involved in your child(ren)’s Christian education; we love volunteers! There are plenty of opportunities for you to plug in and get connected. You could help in the nursery, or teach or help with Children’s Church, Wednesday evenings or other special events. We would love to have your helping hands on our team!
